Villages of Merzouga Hotel, Hassilabied and Khamliya

Around the dunes settle 3 Berber villages that still remain with true Hotel Sahara Morocco Berber traditions from South Morocco. "The Blue Men" still exist here in Sahara. All these villages are build in clay construction, the typical construction of the region, a mix of mud, clay and wheat straws. Merzouga village is located right in front of the big dune of Hotel Erg Chebbi and its green oasis contrast with the orange sand from the dunes. Today, Hotel Merzouga is the most developed village around the dunes. Khamliya hotel also known as « village des hommes noirs » its a very interesting settlement as its inhabitants are black-African descendants that settled here when caravans from sub-Sahara still crossed the dunes for business proposes. Every year there's a big party where people gather to play drums and sing, reminding Gwana and west African traditions. Hassilabied is located 4km of hotel Merzouga and its nowadays a residential village for nomad people that through time settled along the dunes.
